Paul Kaseke Snr.

Paul Kaseke Snr.

Senior Managing Partner & Founder of the Firm, Paul Kaseke (Snr.) is a lot of things to a lot of people, he simply prefers to be called Paul. He holds a Diploma in Ministry & also possesses the degrees of LLB, LLM & PhD from Wits University. He is a consummate Legal, Compliance & Risk Management Specialist having been in the field for several years.

He also consults in the areas of fraud detection & investigation, money laundering, business strategies, management, policy formulation & analysis. He has interests & specialises in Administrative Law, Reputational Risk Management & Branding, Constitutional Law, Compliance, Media Law, Privacy Law, Property Law, Religious Freedom, Business growth & development, Policy formulation & analysis, & Cyber Law. He is also a hands-on personal & business manager for several artists & actors.

Paul is also a seasoned teacher & lecturer & is passionate about impartation & clarifying work for students to understand. He previously taught at Wits Plus (a part- time studies unit of the University of the Witwatersrand), Wits School of Law, Wits Department of Social Work & at the Pearson Institute of Higher Education (formerly known as Midrand Graduate Institute). He is constantly called upon to deliver guest lectures for various institutions.

He is also passionate about writing & often writes opinion pieces on current affairs & matters. His mantra is, "Get it done & offer no excuses" & believes that excellence should be a lifestyle. He holds professional memberships with the institutions including:

Hanani Hlomani

Hanani Hlomani

Hanani is an Associate in the legal department at AfriConsult Firm where he deals chiefly with commercial, entertainment and intellectual property law matters. He also has vast experience in the research space having worked as a researcher for organisations such as AfricanLii, the DGRU, The IP Unit at UCT and Research ICT Africa.

He has worked on a number of continental and regional projects such as the African Unions Continental Data Policy Framework and The SADC Digital Economy Model Law Framework amongst others. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB cum laude) from the University of Fort Hare, a Masters in Intellectual Property Law (LLM) from the University of Cape Town and is currently working towards his PhD in Commercial law at the same institution.

He is a Mandela Rhodes foundation alumni scholar (class of 2019) and his key intellectual interests include innovation, research and development, data regulation, the arts and music and financial technology.


Rudo Kaseke

Rudo Kaseke

Rudo Kaseke is the head of Risk and Compliance at AfriConsult firm. She also sits on the board of South Africa Women’s Basketball Association as the Chair of the Legal and Compliance Committee. She holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Law and an LLB degree from the University of Witwatersrand. She is currently studying towards her Masters in Law (in intellectual Property) at the University of Johannesburg.

Rudo has experience in the field of labour law as she worked as a labour law consultant at Labour Law Veritas with a specific focus on matters at the CCMA. She also has experience in the field of Social Media law from her time at Diana Schwarz Attorneys where she dealt with matters concerning children’s internet usage in interaction with South African Law.

She received several awards whilst at University including the Golden Key as well as being on the Dean’s list. Rudo interned at Ellis Coll Firm, a notable firm where she gained drafting skills as well as insight on the practical aspects of being a successful attorney. Throughout her studies she has maintained a diverse interest in law. She has a keen interest in labour law, social media law and intellectual property . She is passionate about making the law more accessible to “the man on the street” and it is her goal to teach people to be more informed about the protections offered by the law ,particularly in terms of Intellectual Property law.


Raphael Chimudzi

Raphael Chimudzi

Raphael is a marketing and public relations enthusiast currently enrolled at Midlands State University where he is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. He is responsible for amongst other things, the Firm’s marketing plans, the creation and development of the Firm’s online presence and relations with stakeholders. He also ensures client satisfaction and retention for the Firm. He has experience derived from Malaysia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Senamiso Moyo

Senamiso Moyo

Sena is a graduate of the University of Witwatersrand where he obtained his LLB in 2016. During his time at the University, he worked as an intern at AfriConsult Firm, gaining his first stint of practical legal & business consulting experience. After completing his articles with a leading intellectual property law firm in Cape Town he went on to focus on IP, commercial & technology law with a boutique commercial firm.

As a member of Radiant Law’s managed legal services team where he is currently employed, Sena combines his experience of drafting & negotiating across a wide range of commercial agreements with a keen interest in translating legal guidance into clear commercial advice for the business.


Sfiso Nxumalo

Sfiso Nxumalo

Sfiso Benard Nxumalo is reading for a Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) in Law at the Faculty of Law at Oxford University. He holds a Bachelor of Civil Laws (BCL) from the University of Oxford & a Bachelor of Laws from the University of the Witwatersrand. His research for the DPhil concerns the philosophical purviews of the African Charter on Human & People's Rights & African Legal Theory.

He is the President of the Oxford Law Black Alumni Network & a Graduate Research Resident at the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights. Prior to beginning his studies at Oxford, Sfiso served as a law clerk to Justice Sisi Khampepe & Justice Steven Majiedt at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of South Africa. He also worked as a candidate attorney at Bowmans, a leading law firm in Africa.

Sfiso's research interests include constitutional law, administrative law, property law, legal history, jurisprudence, & general commercial law.


Dr. Hilda Thopacu

Dr. Hilda Thopacu

Dr. Hilda Thopacu holds a Ph.D. from the University of the Witwatersrand, an LLM from the University of the Western (Cape-Cum Laude), an LLB from Makerere University Kampala, a Dip Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre) & a Certificate on Trade & Gender Linkages from UNCTAD.

She is the Managing Director of KH Global Consultants, a versatile firm offering various professional services. She is an admitted advocate to the Ugandan Bar, a qualified assessor, published author with experience in operations management in the hospitality sector, international trade law & policy analysis & development, mediation, online & face-to-face learning, & qualitative research.

She has consulted with the South African Institute of International Affairs & worked at the University of Fort Hare & published on the regulation of regional informal cross-border trade in agricultural products, digitalization of international trade, product standards, & technical regulations, food safety, South African copyright law, international & regional trade facilitation.

She advises young entrepreneurs, agri-businesses, community-based organizations, & cross-border traders on various regulatory and compliance issues including product standards & technical regulations, company formation, corporate governance, immigration requirements, & procedures. She is a fantastic mediator with a wealth of experience in maintaining ethical company relations through mediation.

As an agile academic, critical thinker, & author, Dr. Thopacu has taught at the University of the Witwatersrand’s School of Law, the University of the Western Cape’s Faculty of Law, & Kyambogo University Business School. Her teaching focus & ethos is to ensure that students & learners gain the ability to write well, think critically, effectively interpret & apply the law to a set of facts, & effectively manage their research projects through face-to-face interactions & digital learning management systems (LMS).
